Musical Groups
I guess that you can say that started playing music with my first piano lessons when I was about 6 or 7 years old. That did not last very long, but I still had the musical bug. When I was in junior high school I found the form of music that I liked. Brass. I started on trumpet. When braces hit, I moved to Baritone/Euphonium. From there I branched off to trombone, tuba, and percussion. I have always done the marching band in school, but in 1991 I discovered Drum Corps. My life has never been the same. I have been involved with the activity to some degree or another ever since. But, I am not only a drum corps nut. I love music and playing music in general.
Current Musical Groups
California Repercussions: The California Repercussions is a group of ex-bandpeople of various schools that enjoy play music from traditional to rock. This is fun and exciting organization to play with. We play at many locations around Northern California on a regular basis. Check out the homepage for our next gig! We are always looking for new places to play too!!!
San Francisco Renegades: The SF Renegades are a senior drum and bugle corps that was founded in 1999. Members from many other drum corps and the like comprise this group. Drum Corps is Evil and Loud is Good are what the Renegades live by. You don't want to miss us when we come to your area. Check out the homepage for a performance near you.
Outdoor Adventure
Hanging out in the doors is something that I love to do. I like camping and hiking the best. But, any outdoor activity is better then working. One of my favorite activities is camping with friends. Yes, it is car camping, but the fun of being able to hang out with your friends over the fire and a beverage in your hand is great. We try to have a camping trip like that once a year in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Usually in the Lake Tahoe area. I wish that I could do it more often, but getting everyone together is hard.
Because I can not go camping all the time. I satisfy my outdoor calling by doing day hikes around the Northern California area. There are some great day hikes that are not that difficult in which you can see some great areas, but still be home in time for dinner.
Something that I have not been able to do in a while, but still love it is backpacking. I think that is the true essence of camping. Being able to carry everything into an area on your back and be alone with the outdoors is just great. When I am not so bogged down with all my other hobbies a long backpacking trip will be in the works.
Computers
What can I say. Hacking on the keyboard is something that I have been enjoying since I got my first computer so, so many years ago. For the trivia minded, my first computer of my own was an Amiga 500. Since then I have been using anything that I have been able to get my hands on. PC, Mac, Linux, I use them all. I will say that when I can, I lean to the opensource software movement. Linux desktop no mater what distro you fancy has come a long, long way and is more then usable for your daily rig for most people.
